Dimitra Gounari

Il lavoro di Dimitra Gounari mi ha affascinato per il modo in cui affronta il tema del "rispecchiamento" di Winnicot e del "Trasnfer" e "Contro Tranfer" Froidiano due concetti della psicologia. Senza addentrarmi in temi psicologici troppo complessi e rimanendo in ambito fotografico, la capacita di Dimitra di restituire la complessità del nostro sguardo è sintetica e efficace.

Personalmente prediligo la ricerca di questo tipo che spinge a riflettere e a interrogarsi pur attenendosi a una estetica del bello, dove l'equilibrio visivo tranquillizza lo spettatore e lo invita attraverso la bellezza a interrogarsi.

Dimitra Gounari è una dottoranda presso il Dipartimento di Suono e Immagine dell'Università Ionica in Grecia. Ha conseguito un Master in Arti Visive e Comunicazione presso il Goldsmiths College dell'Università di Londra, Regno Unito, con una borsa di studio dalla Fondazione delle Borse di Studio dello Stato Greco I.K.Y. È laureata presso il Dipartimento di Fotografia della Scuola Superiore di Applicazione di Atene, Grecia. Ha insegnato presso il Dipartimento di Fotografia e Arti Audiovisive dell'Università dell'Attica Occidentale, il corso di Arti Visive del Diploma IB ed è esaminatrice di Arti Visive del DP IB. Il suo lavoro artistico ha ricevuto riconoscimenti e premi da diverse istituzioni e concorsi. Ha esposto in Grecia, Belgio, Svizzera, Regno Unito, ecc., ed è stata pubblicata in cataloghi nella stampa greca e internazionale. Il suo lavoro si trova in collezioni private e pubbliche.

Questo progetto ha avuto luogo nel 2021-2022 sull'isola greca di Evia, Dove Dimitra vive. "Ho girovagato per molte spiagge per trovare i posti giusti. Gli specchi erano utilizzati per i servizi fotografici, che sono stati integrati nello spazio circostante, in ordine per creare più osservazioni per gli spettatori. Ci sono riflessi di alcune parti di me e della mia giovane figlia, come tentativo di incorporare il mio personale esperienze nel luogo da cui provengo. La maggior parte delle fotografie sono state manipolate con un software di editing, come ho fatto io sto cercando di comporre un ambiente più complesso in cui il reale possa essere integrato scene fantasiose per la creazione di un nuovo spazio."

La relazione tra esseri umani e tra umani e luohi è alla base di queste ricerche.

Rifletto da molto tempo sul ruolo dell'artista nel 2024, di quanto sia necessaria una ricerca che approcci le grandi problematiche del nostro secolo e che le presenti al grande pubblico. Dimitra Gounari

Dimitra Gounari's work has fascinated me for the way she approaches Winnicott's concept of "reflection" and Freudian concepts of "transference" and "countertransference."

Without delving into overly complex psychological themes and staying within the realm of photography, Dimitra's ability to capture the complexity of our gaze is concise and effective. 

Personally, I prefer this type of research that prompts reflection and inquiry while adhering to an aesthetic of beauty, where visual balance soothes the viewer and invites them to question through beauty. 

Dimitra Gounari is a PhD candidate at the Department of Sound and Image at the Ionian University in Greece. She holds a Master of Arts in Visual Arts and Communication from Goldsmiths College, University of London, UK, with a scholarship from the Greek State Scholarship Foundation I.K.Y. She graduated from the Department of Photography at the Athens University of Applied Sciences, Greece. She has taught at the Department of Photography and Audiovisual Arts at the University of West Attica, the IB Visual Arts course, and is an examiner for IB DP Visual Arts. 

Her artistic work has received recognition and awards from various institutions and competitions. She has exhibited in Greece, Belgium, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, etc., and has been published in catalogs in both Greek and international press. Her work is found in private and public collections. 

This project took place in 2021-2022 on the Greek island of Evia, where Dimitra resides. 

"I wandered many beaches to find the right spots. Mirrors were used for the photoshoots, which were integrated into the surrounding space to create multiple observations for viewers. There are reflections of some parts of me and my young daughter, as an attempt to incorporate my personal experiences into the place I come from. Most of the photographs were manipulated with editing software, as I am trying to compose a more complex environment where the real can be integrated with imaginative scenes to create a new space." 

The relationship between humans and between humans and places is at the core of these inquiries. 

I have long reflected on the role of the artist in 2024, of how necessary it is for research to approach the great challenges of our century and present them to the general public.
